Seller ID: 688 Cambridge (Boston): Hilliard and Brown (Hilliard and Gray), 1832 (1834). First edition (vi, 675 pp., index; vii, 620 pp., index). Illustrations by Bowen and Hall. The two volumes complete with many engraved b&w illustrations. In original decorative blue-green cloth, professionally rebacked in nicely matched blue-green cloth and paper labels, some pages unopened. In the Preface, Nuttall pays handsome tribute to his 'eminent friend Mr. Audubon' and regrets that 'the whole manuscript had not been placed under his revision.' Endpapers browned as usual, covers spotted and faded. Text block is tight and clean throughout. A very good copy of a hard to find classic of American ornithology. Price: $700.00
