Seller ID: 1227 Paris: Chez Plassan, 1792. Copperplate engraving of an amarylis, sheet (40cm x 29cm), plate (32cm x 22cm) on fine rag paper. William Paterson (1755-1810), who later had a career as a colonial adminstrator in Australia, explored the inland plateau of South Africa in search of botanical and other specimens to send back to England.
