Seller ID: 1683 London: Groombridge, et al. (n. d.). Volume II only, small paper edition (unpaginated). Small quarto (21 cm) in modern bronzed cloth over fine decorative paper with leafy figures, gilt titles and decoration to spine, a.e.g. Sixty-five vibrant chromolithographs depicting a variety of ornamentals, native and exotic, the descriptions intended as refinements, corrective of the Linnaean system of classification. Although the Index lists fifty plates, fifteen additional plates with descriptions are bound in at the beginning of the volume. Without a comparison to Volume I, which is not to hand, one hazards a guess that the additional plates strayed from the first volume and were bound together with those of the second at the owner's direction. Scattered light off-setting of several plates, a title page and one endpaper discoloured. Handsome, well-coloured images. Very nice indeed. Price: $850.00
