Large folio (40 cm) in publisher's maroon cloth, gilt titles to cover and spine, t.e.g. Twenty-three colour plates variously by Knight, Gronvold, Fuertes, and Lodge; twenty-seven photogravures by Beebe; six maps-- all with tissue guards. Accounts of Beebe's travels through Borneo, Ceylon, Malaya, the Himalayas, Burma, and China in search of the Burmese Peacock, Amherst Pheasant, Golden Pheasant, Impeyan Pheasant, White Peacock, etc. Beebe was, among others, Curator of the New York Zoological Park and Fellow of the American Ornithological Union. Bright, full-page colour plates of Golden Pheasant, Burmese Peacock, Lady Amherst Pheasant, etc.; full-page photogravures of various habitats, birds in captivity.
