As an editor of the Atlanta Constitution, Joel Chandler Harris (1845- 1908) supported reconciliation between the races and economic development of the South. As a folklorist and writer, he preserved traditional tales from the west African oral tradition (Br’er Rabbit stories) and introduced them into the wider literary culture. A tight, clean copy.
